Today I discovered the newly opened Galleria Supermarket in Don Mills! Hurray!!!! Galleria is Korean store that has been around up at Steeles and Yonge for a long time. It’s a great store filled with amazing Korean and other Asian food. Now it has come to Don Mills on Upjohn Street (just off of York Mills, going South, between Leslie and Don Mills Road). It’s near the 33 Division police station. There’s also a brand new buffet restaurant called Dragon Pearl. The decor in this place is quite beautiful. We had a quick look on the way to the supermarket. I’ll have to go for lunch and check out the food.. although initially it looks a little like “the Mandarin”… not too exciting. It will have to compete with the excellence of our local Congee Queen.
The Galleria store is exciting because it brings Asian vegetables and basic cooking ingredients into the mainstream. It’s also a great place to eat Korean fast food or to grab something to take back to the office.
This is why I love living in Toronto… it’s such a rich community and each culture make Toronto all the more interesting… and tasty!!
