Vatican or Holy See?

What’s the difference between the Vatican and the Holy See? For most people it’s all the same thing. However there is a difference. The Vatican is actually a geographic location, in Rome (well, not technically Rome, since it is also a “State”). The term Vatican is used more correctly to refer to that State within Italy. It is the political reality. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the Vatican State. Thanks to the Archdiocese of Toronto blog I was reminded of the most interesting website of the Vatican. It’s worth visiting. It includes really cool webcams of various points of the Vatican. This is distinct from the Holy See (the headquarters of the  Catholic Church) which is located in the Vatican. The Holy See has it’s own website. It’s still quite dated and hard to navigate at times.
