Loyola High School battling Quebec gov’t over ethics course

The Quebec Ministry of Education has mandated a new course in Ethics and World Religions that looks at religion like “culture”. We’re all the same… all religions have the same basic message…the golden rule, blah, blah, blah.  What a bunch of crap! I’m a pretty moderate guy and this kind of state-imposed relativism is getting my blood pressure up. The Jesuits and Loyola are taking the Government to court. Thank God. I’m also happy that BLG (the firm that also represent the friars) has taken on this case.

This is an important moment in the life of the church in Quebec. Parents are realizing that their rights are being limited by the imposition of strict secular view of life. Don’t get me wrong, I applaud the value of creating an education system that reflects and responds to the diversity of the population. I also think it is important to teach respect  of others. However, most Quebecois hold dearly to their identity as Catholics (whether they practice or not).  The tide is preparing to change… something is happening in Quebec. Check out the news story here:
