Church beatifies WWII objector, Martyr

Posted by

Blessed  Franz  Jägerstätter

The 36 year old Austrian farmer was executed for his refusal to participate in the Nazi regime’s war effort. In the presence of his widow and thousands of people he was beatified today.  The event took place on Austria’s  National Day, an opportunity for the state to reflect on its experience of the war.  It is also a reminder to all of us of the power on conscience and the witness that we can give for our faith.  For more check out the Associated Press story.

  1. Franz is an inspiration for all the baptized who are called to discipleship. Taking a stand for what one’s hold dear as value of the KIngdom is tantamount either to rejection or acceptance.
